UGC urged all institutions to implement security features in students’ degrees and certificates

In a letter dated October 17, 2014, and March 21, 2019, UGC had requested the educational institutions to implement security features in the mark-sheets and certificates of the students. The security features will help in curbing the duplication and will help in introducing the uniformity among the higher education in the country. UGC had asked to introduce security features such as a photograph of the student, hologram of the institution and QR codes in the certificates and mark-sheets of the students. Now UGC has asked to add name and place of the institution in which student has studied along with the mode of education such as regular, part-time or distance. It is important that such details are mentioned on the certificate/mark-sheets of the students as these mark-sheets are used by the students throughout their lives for various means and ends. UGC asked the institutions to implement and security features and changes on urgent basis to prevent any malpractices related to the degrees and certificates which can harm the students.
