86% of the students in Haryana are Saksham or grade level competent



The Saksham Haryana after being in its fifth year of implementation has yielded positive results as 86 percent students of the state are now Saksham or grade-level competent. The Saksham Haryana is a state-wide educational transformation program being implemented in the state to uplift the education level of the students of the state. Stating this, Project Director, Chief Minister's Good Governance Associates (CMGGA) Programme, Dr Rakesh Gupta said “13 more blocks have been announced Saksham taking the total number of such blocks to 107 after eight rounds of assessment.” He further added that 14 districts in the state are 100 percent saksham after 8 rounds of assessments. He also said that under the project Saksham, the state-government took multiple initiatives such as focus on remedial education through a Learning Enhancement Program, strengthening the academic review and monitoring mechanism in the state and improving the technology systems (Management Information System and Academic Monitoring System) of the Education Department. Khattar said that the main aim of the project Saksham is to achieve grade level competencies for the 80 percent of the students of the state. Grade level competencies mean that a student in a particular grade knows all the skills and competencies defined for that grade and for a block to be Saksham, its 80 percent of the students need to have grade-level competencies.
